After studying Art History at the Sorbonne and graduating in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree, she moved to Lebanon and taught introductory classes in Art history at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-arts through 1994. That same year she founded her art gallery in Beirut, where she presents contemporary young international artists. In 2014, with Michèle Helou Nahas she started a collaboration, to launch the Beirut Art Film Festival (BAFF) in November 2015. Alice is married to Simon Karam and is the mother of three children.
After acquiring a degree in sociology at the Saint Joseph University of Beirut, she studied at the European University Centre in Nancy (France). For a period of eighteen years, Maria Chakhtoura managed the cultural page of the Lebanese French-speaking daily newspaper L'Orient-le Jour. She is also a member of the Faculty of Human Sciences at Saint-Joseph University and a member of the Forum of Mediterranean Women representing Lebanon. She is the author of several books: La guerre des graffiti (Editions Dar An Nahar), Mémoire de survie (Editions L'Orient-le Jour) and La gardienne du clan, Geneviève Gemayel. She is also the author of several televised documentaries.
She is both a stage director and a drama professor at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts. In 1993, she launched the Nadine Mokdessi Workshop. Since then, she has directed over 21 theater including Les Belles sœurs, Dîner de cons, Panique au Plaza, Un beau salaud… These were produced for the benefit of different Lebanese NGO’s. Nadine uses the concept of philanthropy based on theatrical production that allows her to donate all profits raised by the shows to NGO's. Since 2005, she has mentored actors and produced yearly shows for children and teenagers.
He is one of the founding partners of '...né à Beyrouth', the Beirut-based film development and production company. In 2003, he set up “...né à Beyrouth Films” which develops, co-produces and line produces feature films and documentaries. Pierre Sarraf has been involved in the production of 6 feature films, 8 shorts films and 6 documentaries. On the industry level, since 2001, “...né à Beyrouth” has produced the Lebanese Film Festival of Beirut which plays a major role in fostering the film industry of Lebanon. He also serves on the board of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture Cinema Committee and teaches Cinema Production at ALBA University.
